Police, Custom and Health Formalities |

To
enter in Sudan it is necessary to get en entry visa, but the passport must not
contain the Israeli visa. Within three days from the entrance it is necessary to
register the passport at the police station (our organization will provide this
service to our clients). At the departure is requested an airport tax of USD 20. No
vaccinations are required, but it is advisable the malaria profilaxis during the
hottest months. During the winter months (November to March) there are very few
mosquitoes and the risk is very low. To travel in Sudan it is necessary to get a
“travel permit” specifying the itinerary. To visit the archaeological sites
it is necessary to get special permit. Our organisation will provide this
permits. A
first aid kit is available in the cars, but it is advisable to carry own
personal medicines in the hand baggage.

Currency
|
|
The currency in Sudan is the Sudanese Pound. The present value (March
2008) is 1 Euro = 3 SP - 1 USD = 2 SP It is possible to change in the banks
both Euro or USD.

Language |
|
The
language spoken by the people is Arabic; in the Nubian region it is also used a
local dialect different from Arabic. Very few people speaks English out of
Khartoum.

Time Zone |
|
In
Sudan the difference is +2 hour with central European time.

Climate |
|
The
northern Sudan regions have a desert climate, with high thermal range between
day and night. For a travel the best period are winter months, from October to
the end of April, with a climate dry and sunny. The
range of temperatures
are: -
October/November and March/April:
30°-35° degrees
during the day, 12°-18° in the night -
December/January/February:
25°-30° degrees during
the day, 5°-10° in the night The
humidity fluctuations are between 20% and 40%. No clouds or rains in these
months.

Photographs |
|
It
is necessary to get a photographic permit that will be provided by the
organisation. We
remember you that it is not allowed to take photographs of military items,
airports, bridges, official buildings. In Khartoum also there are sometimes
problems to take pictures of the town and of the mosques. We suggest, in case of
any doubt, to ask to the tour leader. |
